Description

Château Maucaillou is a bourgeois cru of the Moulis appellation in the Médoc.

The winery takes its name from an ancient expression, contraction of bad and pebble. It is one of the oldest vineyards in the Médoc. Today, it is Philippe Dourthe, helped by his son Pascal, who is at the head of the property whose vines cover nearly 90 hectares of vines (between the Margaux and Saint Julien appellations) planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. This is the sector of Grand Poujeaux.

The terroir is composed of Garonne gravel from the Günz, an ice age. Vinification made by grape variety following manual and mechanical harvesting. Then follows an ageing in oak barrels that lasts 16 months.

Blend of Château Maucaillou 2019: 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot 41% and Petit Verdot 7%.

When we taste Château Maucaillou 2019, the nose is on concentrated fruit aromas. The sapling and full palate offers an average finish.
